We can experience wonderful healing properties by drinking regional, mineral, hyper-thermal water. The Uniejów Thermal Baths draw it from two-kilometer depths below the earth’s surface. It is inhabited by mandrills, lemurs, peacocks and alligators. You can admire waterfalls, fountains and live palm trees.

The smallest parish in Poland

The parish has over 30 families, which makes it the smallest parish in Poland. The church was built in 1683 of field stone and brick. The body of the insurgent Adam Bolesław Jabłkowski, who died in a fight against the Cossacks, is buried in its basement. In the 1970s, the church was to be demolished and moved to another place due to the construction of the Jeziorsko reservoir. Ultimately, it was decided to leave it on the embanked headland.

In 1107, there was a stronghold here mentioned in the chronicle of Gallus Anonymus. Built on the site where the route from Poznań to Kalisz crossed. In this stronghold, Bolesław Krzywousty imprisoned Archbishop Marcin – his brother’s supporter. You can see here the remains of the stronghold’s defensive ramparts, functioning until the 14th century. There are 5 bunkers from World War II in the town. The modern village is famous for its flower carpets laid on the day of the Corpus Christi procession.

The Bernardine Monastery Complex in the Warta River serves as a historical and museum due to its artistic, scientific and historical value, presenting evidence of a bygone era.

The Bernardine monastery complex includes: the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – originally Gothic, built in 1479-82. In 1612, a Renaissance side chapel of St. Anna was added to the church. The church has rich interior furnishings, considered among the most impressive baroque interiors in the country.

Miłkowice

Parish of St. Nicholas

Miłkowicka 8, 62-730 ~ 4km

The history of its existence is rich. The first wooden parish church of Saint Nicholas and Saint Dorota, mentioned in the second half of the 15th century.

Its founders were most likely the owners of the estate – the Miłkowski family. The church was destroyed due to old age in the 18th century. In 1787, the local squire, Ignacy Lipski, built a new church. Saint Nicholas. Built of pine logs on a brick foundation, it burned down in 1849. In 1850, a new one was built by Tomasz Bogdański, the then heir of Miłkowice. However, it was an unstable building with the so-called half-timbered wall, which fell into ruin already in 1870.
